inside of Jefferson County Kentucky
Located in north central Kentucky’s historic heartland, Middletown sits inside the greater Louisville metro area. Located twelve miles east of Louisville on U.S. 60, our name ‘Middletown’ is thought to be derived from its halfway mark location between Louisville and Shelbyville.
From the scenic view of the Ohio River to the thrill of Derby season at Churchill Downs, Middletown is just a short drive to the big city. The metropolitan area of Louisville is comprised of seven counties: Jefferson, Oldham and Bullitt counties in Kentucky, and Clark, Floyd, Harrison and Scott counties in Indiana; all of whose population totals approximately one million. Many businesses are attracted to Middletown because of the low tax rate and the fact that businesses do not pay a Middletown Business License or occupational tax. With a well-trained work force and more opportunity close at hand in the large metropolitan area, owners should definitely take a second look at our community when considering relocation.
