Okolona is one of the communities that make up part of the greater Louisville metro area, and more specifically, South Louisville.
Okolona has a population of around 2,000 residents, but because of the new integration it is served by the largest public school system in the state and now also offers a myriad of post-secondary educational opportunities, including the University of Louisville and Bellarmine University.
Okolona offers convenient access to I-65 in the area between the Gene Snyder and Watterson higways and therefor is convenient to commute to just about anywhere in Louisville and even town to the south into Bullitt County.
There are plenty of businesses in the area to add to convenience including groceries, shopping malls and movie theaters.
