The city of Jeffersontown is a pro-business full service community located in southeastern Jefferson County. Jeffersontown has a population of approximately 27,500 residents and swells to a workforce of close to 50,000 daily.
The city originally called "Brunerstwown" was purchased by Arbaham Bruner in 1794. Bruner purchased 122 acres and wanted to establish a town at the intersection of two well traveled roads, Main and Market Street, now known as Watterson Trail and Taylorsville Road. Business owners quickly set up shop and the sqaure became a popular spot filled with potters, bklacksmiths, and many more businesses. Many people would travel to the sqaure to buy goods instead of making the long journey to Louisville vis horse and cart. The city was renamed on May 3, 1797 as Jeffersontown after Thomas Jefferson, the current vice president at the time.
The Jeffersontown offers many community events through out the year, a farmers market, multiple parks and recreation facilities and numerious small businesses. The diversity in housing choices makes Jeffesontown unique with choices of small homes in quiet neighborhoods within walking distance to shopping and schools, to larger modern construction offering tremendous square footage and unique lot designs.
