Prospect is a third class city east of Jefferson County and into Oldham County. Prospect was originally owned by majority farmers and a few wealthy families who would commute to Louisville. In the early 1900s the area started to grow with when the railroad was built through Prospect. However, the area did not see significant growth until the development of Hunting Creek subdivision, Hunting Creek Country Club, and Fox Harbor subdivision. Prospect has experienced one of the highest percentage population growths in Jefferson County during the 1990's meaning there are bountiful newer communities with spacious residential homes and luxury condominiums. The amenities offered to the community also contribute to the growth of the area. Prospect has 4 city parks, the Lawrence C, Falk Library, 3 golf courses, local dining, shopping, and the Harrod's Creek Yacht Club & Marina. The homes in Prospect provide convenient location, large lots, and beautiful character.
