Shively, is a suburb of Louisville within Louisville Metro government located in Western Jefferson County. Established in the late 1700s, Shively was named for its’ earlier settlers. In 1897, settlers erected the notable, St. Helen’s Catholic Church, which operates today as Mary Queen of Peace. At the end of prohibition, several distilleries opened and in the 1950s it was the fastest growing city in the state. The Brown-Forman, Early Times distillery is still in operation today.
